NoVA FC repeat as MASL 3 champion
For the second time in as many seasons Northern Virginia FC are champions of Major Arena Soccer League 3. NoVA FC defeated Philadelphia Spartans on Saturday night in an overtime thriller 9-8 to capture their second league title.
JP Ayolmbong was the overtime hero for NoVA scoring the game winner.
NoVA, who led most of the game, scored the first three goals before the Spartans got on the board. The host team led 5-3 at halftime and 7-5 after three quarters before Philadelphia rallied in the fourth quarter to tie the game.
Huber Letona (NoVA FC) and Philadelphia Spartans goaltender James Brett were named co-MVP of the MASL 3 championship game.
