Six teams start quest for title with quarterfinals games Friday, Championship game Sunday

FRUITLAND, Maryland -- Six teams will vy for the Major Arena Soccer League 3 championship this weekend in Maryland, all trying to deny a fourth-straight league title for Northern Virginia, who comes into the weekend as the No. 4 seed.

NOVA, in fact, will meet the RGV Barracudas (No. 5), from Brownsville, Texas, in the  second quarterfinal game of the tournament this  Friday at 7:30 p.m. The first quarterfinal will kick off at 4:30 p.m. as Cincinnati based Valhalla FC (No. 3 seed) takes on the OKC Certified Lions (No. 6).

All games will be broadcast live on the Delmarva Sports Network, a regional sports cable channel in the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia region which also is available to stream online. All games are being played at the Crown Sports Center near Salisbury, Maryland.

Semifinal action is set for Saturday starting at 12 noon when Kalamazoo (No. 2) seed meets the highest remaining seed from Friday's play. At 3 p.m., the No. 1 seeded Roc City Boom -- the only undefeated team to advance -- will meet the lower remaining quarterfinal seed. Sunday's championship game will kick off April 6 at 12 noon as well.
